さて、今日は知り合いがお誕生日会をしてくれたときのバースデーケーキについて。やっぱりいくつになっても誕生日のろうそくをふーっと消すというのは胸が躍るものです。それがたとえろうそくの本数がどんどん多くなっていたとしても！ 先日、近所に住むデザイナーさんたちに誕生日祝いをしてもらいました。ケーキは代々木上原の名店「フランス菓子 ダリオルール」のモンブラン。このダリオール、代々木上原では知らない人はいない、人気パティスリー。駅の改札を出てすぐ、高架横にあります。創業は名刺によると1979年とのこと。店内はクラシカルなケーキがずらりと並び、もちろん味も正統派。私がお祝いしてもらったモンブランもマロンペーストはバタークリーム混ざっているのか、しっかりかため。決してなめらかとはいえない口溶けですが、じっくり口の中で溶けるリッチな味わいはなんだか懐かしいほど。中には生クリーム、マロンムース、スポンジが層になっており、濃厚な味わいにすっかりやられてしまいました。口の肥えた代々木上原の人々に愛され続けているのにも納得です。モンブランにろうそくを立てるのも初めてだったなぁ。いやいや、幸せなひとときでした。
