Exhibition with the theme of "Lithograph" silk screen printing machine, 33 artists participated
An exhibition "RISO IS IT" with the theme of "lithograph", in which 33 artists participate, is currently being held at the "OIL by Art Notebook" gallery on the 2nd floor of Shibuya Parco.
"Lisograph" is a silk screen printing machine manufactured and sold by Riso Kagaku Kogyo since 1980. When I hear that it is an ideal science, it reminds me of the "Print Gokko" home printing machine. In the past, there was always one in every home as an indispensable tool for making New Year's cards. Print Gokko is a printing machine that uses silk screen technology. When performing multicolor printing, you must prepare a plate for each color, as in Ukiyo-e. When I was a kid, I wanted to send elaborate New Year's cards to my friends, so I drew one picture for each color and made multiple editions with difficulty. Or?
The lithograph may be easy to understand when you think of it as a printing machine that raised the level of print gokko. It is possible to perform two-color printing at a higher speed and lower cost than a copier by performing from plate making to printing with one machine. It has a wide range of uses, such as printing from school newsletters and sales leaflets for supermarkets, but in recent years, attention has been focused on making ZINEs and making art works making the most of the uniqueness of lithographic printing, mainly in Europe. The reason for its popularity is the texture and texture of silk screen. Originally, there is no point in using a lithograph for color printing. Since it is a two-color printing machine, for multicolor printing, for example, eight-color printing requires four passes, and 16-printing requires a total of eight passes. Since the inks are piled up many times, it takes time to dry after printing once and stack the next ink. Also, as with prints, each sheet may be slightly misaligned, and the way ink is attached also changes. The imperfections may be interesting as art works or art, which is different from copying and reproduction.
In this exhibition, in order to convey the fun and culture of "lithograph" printing technology, "FL Ta SH (Fresh)" and "OIL by Art Notebook," which operate a gallery and a lithographic printing studio at Jingumae 3-chome, are curated. We have 33 artists do the art print by "lithograph" and display the work.
The main participants are young, up-and-coming artists such as Ai☆Manado, Kazuki Umezawa, Kotori Kawashima, Yuichi Yokoyama, Yantwo, BIEN, ESSU, EVERYDAY HOLIDAY SQUAD, Russell Maurice, street art, photography and painting. Well-known artists who are active overseas. The art works that are unique to lithographs, which are different from ordinary works, will be gathered together. Prints with editions are also sold online at the gallery.
The exhibition is until July 3rd.
